While some people are looking forward to dancing into 2024 at an extravagant party, others prefer quieter options. So, we’ve summoned up a list of things to do in Edinburgh this Hogmanay.
1. Attend the iconic Edinburgh’s Hogmanay street party
It’s official, Edinburgh Hogmanay is back with the iconic Street Party to welcome in 2024 with a bang in the city centre. Basically, it’s just a huge party on the streets of Edinburgh. Expect DJ soundtracks, giant screens, funfair attractions and a complete selection of street food & drink throughout the arena. 2. Sing along to the greatest hits of Pulp at the 30th Anniversary Concert in the Gardens
The main event of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Concert in the Gardens will be headlined by Pulp into the New Year on December 31, as the legends will show the world how to party. On top of the impressive headliners, there will also be surprise guest DJs to warm the audience up. Tickets start at £72.50, and concert ticket holders will then also have access to Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party.
3. Attend this Hogmanay ball with ceilidh dancing and a four-course dinner
Virgin Hotels is bringing its scarlet red signature colour to life this year by throwing three of the “hottest parties” in town at Greyfriars Hall, the events and all-day dining venue, Eve and Commons Club. Greyfriars Hall will become home to an extravagant ball starting with a champagne reception and canapes, followed by a four-course dinner with wine pairing, and finalised with some ceilidh dancing. And those ready to ring in 2023 with a line-up of world-renowned DJs and plenty of fizz to go around can head to Eve.
And Commons Club will invite guests to enjoy an instrumental set by jazz and funk duo, Sapphire Notion, whilst enjoying a five-course menu specially curated by Chef de Cuisine Emma Hanley. The fine-dining menu will feature high-quality local produce, including Scottish Lobster, a Comte tartlet, Veal, Chestnut gnocchi and a selection of Scotland’s finest cheeses. 4. Indulge in a decadent champagne dinner surrounded by cherry blossoms and deep house DJs
Tattu Edinburgh is throwing a New Year’s Eve party full of hedonistic elegance in their icey-blue lit, cherry blossom-filled restaurant. Soundtracked by deep house DJs, it’s set to be an indulgent night with great food, great music and an even greater atmosphere. The venue will be offering a specially curated three-course dinner served with NV La Cuvée Brut Laurent-Perrier Champagne and all the chill extravagant vibes. 5. Go to a masquerade ball
Feel like a movie star at The Dome’s Masquerade Ball this Hogmanay, with a red carpet, all the glitz and glam and everything in between. Guests must be dressed in Black Tie dress code or masquerade fancy dress, offering an extravagant night of opulence. 6. Check out the Glitterati After Party
Brewhemia is hosting a unique afterparty for those wanting the best of both worlds: attending the street party, and then warmly ringing in the bells indoors. From 9pm to 2am, guests can expect five rooms of festivities, with promenaders at the Beer Palace, surrounded by “brass and class”, Prosecco Bar, cabaret, dancers, musicians and even the piper cavort across tables. 7. Sip on cocktails at Edinburgh’s newest speakeasy
