Imagine having a brew-tiful time on your stag do, feeling “lager” than life, before being stopped by the police. It was all fun and games for a group of lads riding a beer bike down Leith Walk in the North of Edinburgh, until police got involved and confiscated the vehicle.
Due to road safety concerns, the paddle-powered beer bike was taken away from a group of men on Saturday, March 16 at 11:20am. While the inquiries are still in progress, there has not yet been any further developments to the case.
From the photos taken by passers-by, it appears the group was cycling on the road and not the cycling path, taking up space where cars and the tram are supposed to go.
Police Scotland announced on their X account, saying: “Officers from the Leith Community Policing Team stopped and seized a beer bike on Leith Walk, around 11.20am on Saturday, 16 March, 2024, following safety concerns and road traffic offences. We are aware of ongoing community concerns and further enquiries are ongoing.”
As usual, the internet had plenty to say, with one person commenting: “I wonder if there’s a designated sober driver”, said one person on Facebook.
Another wrote: “Well I suppose it could have been swallowed up by a pothole”, while someone also joked: “Why is nobody talking about how this dude is flicking his blonde wig“.
“Omg I had just given them a beep beep and saw the police lights”, was written by another commenter.
