The Kitchin Group venues were the first to list the brand new The Sassenach Whisky, where Michelin Star Chef Tom Kitchin and Outlander star Sam Heughan joined forces to bring out the best of Scottish flavours. Diners can now indulge in the brand new whisky at all four of Chef Tom Kitchin’s venues, including the Michelin Starred The Kitchin in Leith, The Scran & Scallie in Stockbridge, KORA by TK in Brunstfield and The Bonnie Badger in Gullane.
Heughan and Kitchin first met when filming the award-winning series, Men In Kilts, and have since developed a friendship through their shared passion for the great Scottish landscapes.
Inspired by the magnificent Highland landscapes, The Sassenach Whisky is the first whisky launched by the Scottish actor and has won multiple awards since launching, such as taking home the Gold award at the 2022 International Spirits Challenge.
The recent award came hot on the heels of a Double Gold and Best In Show win at The New York World Wine and Spirits Competition as well as a Double Gold at the San Francisco Wine and Spirits Competition. Upon sampling the whiskey, Scotch lovers can expect fresh citrus notes on the nose, followed by waves of vanilla and honey, with hints of cinnamon spice and almond, finishing in a nutmeg, toffee, and orange zest.
And to celebrate the launch of The Sassenach Whisky, The Kitchin has introduced an exciting new concoction. The Outlander Serve is a unique take inspired by the classic whisky sour and presents a celebration of the Scottish scenery featuring The Sassenach, with hand-squeezed lemon, egg white, Douglas Fir syrup with foraged fir from Deeside, adding a unique efflorescence, and finished with orange bitters.
Sam Heughan, co-founder of Sassenach Spirits, said:
“Chef Tom Kitchin has a shared respect, admiration, and passion for Scotland’s enviable larder so it feels fitting that The Sassenach will now be available at Kitchin Group venues. With many enjoying The Sassenach whisky at home, it’s wonderful to be able to bring it to the table at some of Scotland’s leading restaurants and bars.”
What is more, this festive season, The Kitchin Group set to help children in poverty, raising much-needed funds to help ensure local children living in poverty across Edinburgh will receive gifts this Christmas. The Michelin Guide recognised Bruntsfield restaurant, KORA by Tom Kitchin, has partnered with charity campaignMission Christmas, to help Santa ensure children living in poverty across the city will wake up to a gift on Christmas morning.
To help aid the worthy cause, the team behind KORA will donate £2 for every guest dining for lunch and dinner at the restaurant between Thursday December 1 and Sunday December 18. Therefore, guests can sample The Sassenach Whisky with a clean conscience, knowing they are contributing to a child waking up to a present on Christmas day.
