There is something about the quality of sound that stands out the moment you walk into a place. Superior speakers can elevate any spot – but what if we told you The Caley Bar in Edinburgh not only boasts a specialised sound system, but also a trendy atmosphere, as well as some absolutely banging cocktails?
The Caley Bar is located within The Caledonian, a five-star hotel that is already a prime dining destination with The Court. What is more, the building used to be a railway station, boasting timeless grandeur and elegance.

The bar is its latest addition as Scotland’s only listening bar, and is inspired by Japan’s celebrated Jazz Kissa culture. While Scotland used to have a listening bar in Glasgow, Mamasan, it has, unfortunately, closed down in 2024.
At The Caley Bar, guests can marvel at the amazing sound system from the moment they walk in, with vinyl turntables posing as a proud centrepiece. As a result, the spot is predictably home to an abundant collection of records, with live DJ sets on Friday and Saturday evenings to help liven things up.

The cocktails are just as impressive as the sound system, with The Frequent Flyer being my ultimate favourite, boasting Revival Woven and house Whisky, Guava, Paragon Timur Berry and Coconut. The small plates have a few gluten-free options, and you must try the Mushroom Parfait with Toasted Sourdough, Toasted Walnuts & Pickled Mushrooms.
Matthew Swan, Food and Beverage Manager at The Caledonian, said: “The Caley Bar is all about atmosphere. From the warmth of the lighting to the sound of vinyl spinning through the room, it’s a space where people can slow down, connect and really enjoy the moment. The music, the cocktails, the setting – everything has been designed to feel effortless and inviting.”
The Caley Bar is open from 5pm until late, located within The Caledonian on Princes Street, EH1 2AB, and you can book your table here.
