As the happiest-looking flowers, sunflowers provide a calming sense of joy just by looking at them, adding that little glimmer of cheer to any home. Walking a field of sunflowers also feels like you’re in a movie as the main character (just maybe not ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’…), and you can become a star or a videographer at the Balgone Estate Sunflower Trail this August.
Balgone Estate is located near North Berwick, offering some summer fun with their Sunflower Trail this August. Running between August 8 and 25, the farm is set to soon transform into a never-ending sea of yellow joy.
Visitors can explore the huge 7-acre field filled up to the brim with sunflowers, exploring the maze-like paths after entering through a colourful door. As a result, guests are advised to bring a compass so they don’t get lost. What is more, Balgone Estate has prepared abundant hidden photo opportunities in the trail to provide for a stellar experience and Instagrammable shots.
After a long walk, visitors are free to pick their own sunflowers for a bunch or two to help brighten up their homes with the freshest flowers possible.
Moreover, the sunflower trail is designed to form a specific picture with its winding paths, such as a tractor, from above, making for excellent drone shots!
After you’re all “sunflowered” out, enjoy food and drinks from local street food vendors, as well as get some fresh produce from the farm shop. Little ones can also delight in the farm-themed play area, meet friendly local animals, and get to face painting and tractors that the kids will adore.
Visitors can also pick their own sunflowers with a clean conscience, knowing that 10% of the sunflower sales go to Brain Power, an extension of Brain Tumour Research.
And after the Balgone Sunflower Trail is no more at the end of August, guests can look forward to pumpkin season, with Balgone Estate being the biggest pumpkin patch in Scotland.
