Lifestyle aparthotel and speakeasy lounge, Counter Native Edinburgh has announced a unique Spring programme of creative events for occasions such as International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day in the Scottish capital. This Spring, the boutique lounge has a range of activities dedicated to ‘spring up’ locals and guests alike.
Counter is a beautifully decorated, sophisticated lounge space on the ground floor of the boutique aparthotel, Native Edinburgh. In the past, Counter has also hosted a range of wholesome events, such as exhibitions, festive workshops and a feminist book club.
For International Women’s Day, Counter’s regular Lounge Listening sessions will be fiercely female between March 8 and March 10. Expect self-titled classics such as Aretha Franklin’s 1986 Aretha and Diana Ross’ 1980 Diana albums, as well as newer artists like Canadian-raised music producer Jayda G’s Significant Changes. The sessions are also free, so just turn up and enjoy the tunes.
Each evening at Counter will offer something unique in the serene space with plush green velvet sofas and vintage-inspired décor. The lounge achieves a sense of laid-back opulence, where guests can enjoy a global wine list, classic cocktails, chic digestifs and light nibbles while enjoying records the way the artists intended them to be heard best.
To celebrate Mother’s Day this Spring, Counter will be hosting a hand-tied bouquet workshop with local Edinburgh florists Ollie & Ivy on March 23 from 7pm. Having trained in Paris under the expert eyes of renowned florist Catherine Muller, the Ollie & Ivy team are considered the best of the best. The team of expert florists will attentively guide guests on all-things floral arranging, teaching the ins and outs of selecting the perfect blooms and striking the balance when it comes to fragrance pairings.
Both mothers, daughters and sons, will leave the workshop with a blooming bouquet each. The workshop is £65 per person, and you can book it on Native Edinburgh’s website.
What is more, it’s also Margarita Month, so Counter is shaking things up with a special selection of Margaritas with a twist. Guests can pick anything from the classic On the Rocks, a simple tipple with Patrón Silver, dry curacao, lime and agave, or the Tommy’s a punchy combination of Patrón Reposado, lime and agave or go for a Marg with a grapefruit twist with the Chihuahua.
