Just hearing the words bottomless fries already has us sold, but let me say more. Steak frites fans can enjoy multiple portions of super garlicky fries and original sauce at the Innis & Gunn Taprooms, and without having to break the bank.
The Innis & Gunn Brewery Taproom is located on Lothian Road, perfect for any other plans one might have in the city centre. The brewery taproom keeps 26 craft beers (!!) on tap, as well as tank fresh Innis & Gunn Lager kept in 500-litre containers straight from the brewery.
What is more, the food menu is just as good, with pub classics such as burgers and chicken wings, as well as more unique options like Loaded Fries with Haggis, and the aforementioned Steak Frites with bottomless fries. Plus, there are vegan and vegetarian options available on the menu, such as the Cauliflower Wings or The Taproom Veggie Burger with Innis & Gunn veggie burger patty, vegan cheese, beer onions, burger sauce and skinny fries.
And now, onto what you’ve really come here for – the Steak Frites. Secret Edinburgh got the chance to try it out for ourselves, and we came in with no expectations, just good vibes. And let us tell you, the perfect combination of flavours was what we didn’t know we needed: like a warm, steak-frites-shaped hug.
Available seven days a week, the Innis & Gunn Steak Frites Special is £19.95 and comes with a Chef’s Starter along with a glass of The Original. The starter depends on the day, and is a small bite-sized amuse bouche. The main event is a chargrilled 35-day aged Scottish steak served over garlic butter fries and topped with The Original Steak sauce. And seriously, those fries, though!!!
Once you’ve finished your first plate, you can get a second portion of steak for free, as well as unlimited fries and The Original Steak sauce. As Innis & Gunn said: “more is always more”.
Moreover, our vegan friends out there can opt for the Mushroom Steak Frites with herb and applewood crumbed flat cap mushrooms, served with garlic ‘butter’ frites and red wine jus.
If this sounds like a bit of you, you can book your table at any Innis & Gunn Brewery Taproom here.
