In the brisk October air, Edinburghers usually look for solace in getting cosy, partaking in autumnal activities and spending quality time with friends and family. As such, we are obsessed with all things pumpkin, spooky themes and admiring the colours of the changing seasons. Craigies Farm is giving us the opportunity to do just that, with a series of autumn events including pumpkin picking, Tunnels of Terror and Spooky Tunnels, providing some fun scares.
Located in South Queensferry, Craigies Farm opened in 1988 with a one-table shop in a converted barn, while a cafe was added in 2007. Over the years, the location has expanded to an extensive Pick Your Own and Little Farmers adventure farm park, becoming one of the UK’s top farm shop destinations today.
This October, Craigies Farm autumn events will feature the return of their pumpkin patch, offering views over the stunning South Queensferry countryside. From October 13, Tunnels of Terror will also give spooky fun for the whole family, where costumed characters will provide fun scares throughout the themed tunnels.
During the day, the Spooky Tunnels will offer little frights designed especially for younger visitors and those with additional support needs in mind. A cast of colourful characters will greet the little ones telling spooky tales, taking part in ghoulish games and snapping some photos with creepy props.
Once it’s dark, the fear factor will be taken up a notch, and at night the Spooky Tunnels become the Tunnels of Terror for older children and adults. What is more, a brand new after-dark illuminated experience with spiders and scarecrows, skeletons and ghosts, there’s plenty to get everyone into the Halloween spirit.
However, the ‘pick your own’ pumpkin patch will be open for the whole month of October, with tickets being released weekly depending on availability.
Craigies Farm Owner John Sinclair said: “Our pumpkin patch has always been popular, but we are taking it to the next level with our exciting new Halloween events this year. With both day and night time events taking place, there truly is something for every family, no matter hold old the kids are. The illuminations will be a spectacular sight and we can’t wait to see our fields transformed – we are expecting tickets to fly out the door, so I would recommend booking early to secure your visit.”
