Ever wondered what the perfect beer and burger pairing would look like? Well, now we know. Award-winning burger brand El Perro Negro has teamed up with the local Portobello brewery Vault City for a mouth-watering collaboration. El Perro Negro and Vault City are introducing a brand new kitchen pop-up at the brewery’s popular taproom, Porty Vault, by the Portobello promenade from June 30.
The burger pop-up will see an exclusive three-month summer menu at the Porty Vault pub, set to re-inspire the Portobello food scene and satisfy the cravings of burger lovers and craft beer connoisseurs alike.
The Porty Vault is El Perro Negro’s second Edinburgh venue since 2021, as the burger joint has a spot at Bonnie & Wilde in St James Quarter. Guests can have a go at the National Burger Awards 2019 and 2021 winner, and the best burger in the UK, Top Dog, with bone marrow and Roquefort butter, double bacon, caramelised onions and black truffle mayo. The pop-up menu will also include some El Perro Negro fan favourites, along with some super tasty double-smash additions. The newest, and highly addictive addition is the Chilli Cheese Fries, where crispy fries meet a topping of chilli and melted cheese.
If this sounds like a bit of you, the pop-up will be open between Wednesday and Sunday, with longer opening fours during the weekend. Guests are advised to book beforehand on Vault City’s website.
Adam Reid, Head of Bar Operations at Vault City said: “We’re over the moon to welcome the team at El Perro Negro to our sour beer hub in Portobello! Award-winning burgers and award-winning beers are a match made in heaven, and we can’t wait to kick off this exciting partnership.”
El Perro Negro Founder, Nick Watkins, also spoke of his excitement about the launch: “We’re big fans of Vault City at El Perro Negro, so we were delighted and really flattered when the team suggested collaborating this summer. Their sour creations are the perfect pairing to our burgers and we can’t wait to serve them up together!”
