As you walk through an arched doorway of this bespoke bar, you are transported into another world: a world full of imagination, wonder and, nonetheless, alcohol. It’s like you found one of those places that has the power to transport you to another dimension. The Cocktail Geeks have literally done that by transforming their bar into The Upside Down. For the remainder of the Summer and into September, you can sip a Stranger Things Themed out-of-this-world cocktail at the Edinburgh Arches.
The Cocktail Geeks is an ever-changing entertainment-themed bar that switches up every few months. It is also a privately owned establishment, so visitors can drink thoughtfully crafted cocktails while supporting a small local business. Their website states, “We are a small independent team using our passion for all things geeky to create unique and immersive drinking experiences inspired by some of our favourite works of entertainment.”
So, for now, you can head down to The Cocktail Geeks to enjoy boozy I-Scream floats, dark twists of 80’s cocktails and hard shakes while immersing yourself into the dark kingdom of Vecna, and meet some of the beasts in flesh. And for those not able to make it for any reason, the is a Hawkins @ Home themed cocktail pack available to be delivered to anywhere in the UK.
What is more, The Cocktail Geeks love every Edinburgh-related event, so you can also visit The Auld Saloon at Thomas J Walls Coffee shop during the remainder of the Fringe. The city centre coffee shop will be open for wild cocktails and plenty whiskey inspired drinks. Keep in mind The Auld Saloon is only open from 8 pm, so don’t be too keen to show up early.
And From October 2022, visitors will be transported to the adventure-filled land of J.R.R. Tolkien, where the magic of travel will come to life. Earlier themes consisted of Game of Thrones, The Witcher, Alice in Wonderland, and more. The team has really put the imagination to work and the results turned out spectacularly!
For those who cannot get enough of Stranger Things and fancy a trip further afield, Stranger Things: The Experience is worth a visit in London. You will be invited to participate in a lab study and experience an 80’s themed extravaganza with tunes, party vibes, and themed food and drinks at Scoops Ahoy. Visitors will have the chance to immerse themselves into the experience, being able to interact with the characters and travel to The Upside Down. Whatever you decide, you’ll have truly strange time!
