Finding the perfect spot out of all the beauty spots in the Scottish Capital can be a bit of a challenge at times. So, we’ve summoned up a list of the best spas and beauty salons in Edinburgh for some much-needed self-care.
1. Sleeping Beauty Salon
Ever had a massage so relaxing it makes you forget what year it is? Those in need of some stress and tight muscle relief should look no further than Sleeping Beauty Salon. Located on both Alva Street and at the Radisson Blu Hotel, the beauty salon and spa offers an abundant range of treatments from massages to facials, and from nails to waxing and threading. Secret Edinburgh got to try it out for ourselves: as we will never say no to a massage, we tried the Full Body Relaxing Massage with Elemis aromatherapy oils. Accompanied by serene music, the therapist tailors the treatment to the client’s preference, including the scent of the oils.
Those who prefer a facial can opt for one of the Biotec Elemis Facials, such as the Elemis Pro-Glow Smooth Facial, which has been described as “The ultimate HIIT workout for your skin”.

2. One Spa
A hydropool that’s ACTUALLY outdoors, in the centre of Edinburgh?! You heard that right: One Spa at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa Edinburgh located just across the road from Usher Hall has just that and so much more when it comes to the best spas in the Scottish capital. On top of the hydropool, the spa boasts a generous array of rooms within the Thermal Suite. Re-balance your chakras sitting next to a giant amethyst at the Crystal Steam Room, nourish your lungs at the Dry Salt Room, or rejoice in dry heat at the Laconium. There is also a swimming pool and plenty of other saunas to enjoy, as well as a wide range of spa treatments, such as massages, body scrubs and facials.

Located in a former Victorian railway station, Waldorf Astoria – The Caledonian has become an iconic part of the city centre. As one of the best spas in Edinburgh, the Waldorf Astoria Spa boasts opulent splendour with a steam room, sauna, whirlpool, a two-floor gym, and an indoor swimming pool overlooking Edinburgh Castle. 4. Red Rose Beauty Therapy
This one’s for the ladies only (sorry, gents), and is probably the best massage you can get in Edinburgh. Red Rose Beauty Therapy on Bellevue Street is a home-based, local family-owned salon run by Humaira, who always has some kind-hearted wisdom up her sleeve on top of being excellent at what she does. As the first sugarist in Edinburgh, the beauty therapist offers sugaring hair removal treatments for any part of the body, as well as a wide range of treatments from massages to facials. Go for the Full Body Massage if you want to feel like a brand-new person, starting from £45, and honestly, it’s worth every penny. To book, just give Humaira a call at 07855570878.
5. Sleeping Beauty Spa
Located at the Radisson Blu Hotel right in the city centre, the Sleeping Beauty Spa is the place to be for a little spa day. While it’s a sister venue to the Sleeping Beauty Salon, the space boasts a completely different vibe on the basement floor, also boasting a pool and two saunas for guests to enjoy. Right now, the spa is offering the Summer Festival Package for a wee pick-me-up, for just £65 with an Aromatherapy Back Massage, a Mini Facial and a Pressure Point Foot Massage. The treatment takes one hour, and will leave you rejuvenated, serene and feeling like a new(er) person.
You can find a range of more spa day packages here.
