As the Scottish capital is by the seaside, fresh seafood is readily available wherever you go. So, we have put together a list of the best seafood restaurants in Edinburgh that are absolutely a must.
1. The Fishmarket
The Fishmarket in Newhaven is both a chippy and a restaurant, and is extremely popular amongst the local community. Boasting views of the Newhaven Habour, the spot has an outdoor terrace for those sunny days, as well as sheltered indoor seating to suit the turbulent Scottish weather. Whether guests are after fish and chips for a classic comfort fix, or something a wee bit more sophisticated like the East Coast Lobster, there is something for everyone at The Fishmarket. Plus, there is Oyster Happy Hour: between 4pm and 5pm, visitors can take advantage of £1.50 oysters, except for Sundays.
2. Dulse
Dulse is not only listed on the Michelin Guide, but is also considered one of the best seafood restaurants in Edinburgh. Guests can enjoy a three-course lunch menu for £29, a five-course Tasting Menu for £69, or opt for the A La Carte menu for a smaller meal out. What is more, there is a wine bar downstairs where visitors can enjoy a cocktail.
3. The Ship on the Shore
The Ship on the Shore is a seafood restaurant and champagne bar located in Leith. Seafood lovers can indulge in all the usual favourites, as well as the Seafood Paella Royale with whole Scottish lobster, king scallops, salmon, haddock, mussels, clams, mixed peppers, onion, cherry tomatoes and courgette, which comes as a massive sharing platter.
4. Ondine
Those who delight in creative seafood dishes will adore Ondine, which is the second restaurant on this list included in the Michelin Guide. As expected, there are set menus available for both two and three-course meals for £24 and £29 respectively, including dishes like Whipped Smoked Salmon and Mussels Marienere.
5. Chizuru Tei
As seafood is not complete without sushi, Chizuru Tei in Haymarket has to take its rightful spot on the list. As a Japanese restaurant, the spot offers a stunning range of sushi and sashimi, as well as heartwarming seafood dishes. Plus, it is BYOB, so guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages for a small corkage fee.
