There’s a certain kind of buzz in the air for Potterheads, as fans from across the globe eagerly await for more information on the brand-new Harry Potter TV series announced earlier this year.
We’re finally one step closer to the action, as HBO have officially launched a UK-wide casting call to find the right kids to play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger in the new adaptation.
They are looking for children who will be aged 9-11 in April 2025, with HBO committed to diverse casting, inclusive of all races, ethnicities, and gender identities.
Applicants have to upload two videos to be considered, one introducing themselves and the other reciting a short story or poem – although it cannot be from ‘Harry Potter’.
If you know someone who’d be perfect as Harry, Ron, or Hermione, then you don’t have too much time to apply. Applications are open until the end of October, so get to stepping!
Warner Bros. announced the TV reboot with HBO (on their streaming platform Max) earlier this year, and it’s planned to be a multi-series show based on the original books by J.K. Rowling.
The creators of the series have promised to stay authentic to the original story, but the series format will allow them to delve into the details, and take on some of those notorious missed opportunities from the films.
Back when the series was announced, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO & Max Content said: “Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World.”
“I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long-form television series”
Applications are open until October 31, 2024. Only apply if you meet the brief and there are self-taping instructions to follow. Click here to visit the official casting call from HBO for more information, or to start your application!
