Once again, Edinburgh made it onto another list of being the best. We’re not surprised, because, well, Edinburgh IS the best. This time it has been named one of the friendliest cities in the UK, according to Conde Nast Traveller.
The survey asked CN Traveller readers to name the 51 UK cities they thought were the best. The 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards crowned Edinburgh as the third friendliest city in the UK with 92.25 points. Edinburgh has long been a place that is uber-welcoming and treats visitors as their own. With a mix of various cultures, languages and ethnicities, Scotland’s capital is home to many people from all over the globe, as well as born and bred Edinburghers.
The friendliest city in the UK this year is officially Cardiff, followed by Belfast, Liverpool and Manchester which all took second place due to a tie. The fourth friendliest city is Glasgow with 87.10 points, losing to us by 5.15 points.
Making friends for adults is also an easier task than it would be in cities such as London, as you can just strike up a conversation at a bus stop and it’s considered completely normal.
As for the CN Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, it is one of the more prestigious awards in the world, surveying thousands of people every year. In the UK, it has been going strong since 1998 and is still looked up to within the travel industry to this day.
So, we will gladly take the win, and there was no doubt in our minds that we will make it to the top as the UK’s friendliest city next year.
