Looks like we have another Edinburgh pub to be proud of, and this time it’s Scran & Scallie in Stockbridge. Last week, the gastropub was celebrated at the 2023 National Pub & Bar Awards, where it was crowned as the ‘South-East Scotland Pub & Bar of the Year 2023’.
National Pub & Bar Awards Grand Final saw over 94 bars and pubs from across the UK competed for the title of being named best within their regions at a special ceremony in London.
The award was a noteworthy tribute to Scran & Scallie, which celebrates 10 years on the city’s culinary scene this year. The gastropub opened its doors in 2013 and is owned by Michelin Star Chef Tom and Michaela Kitchin, and the team behind the Kitchin Group.
Scran & Scallie is a family-run independent gastropub known for its passion for seasonal produce, continuous menu innovation, service standards, sustainability and design, as well as its approach to team training, support and engagement. What is more, the menu has been inspired by the classic recipes found at The National Library of Scotland – many of us have heard of their famous Steak Pie that is praised by locals and visitors alike. So, no wonder the judges crowned the spot the best pub and bar in South-East Scotland!
Commenting on the award, The Scran & Scallie Chef Owner Tom Kitchin said: “We’re truly proud of what we’ve created at The Scran & Scallie. What a fun 10 years it has been. We have been on an incredible journey and are so thankful to our community – our talented team, some of whom have been with the business since day one, our wonderful loyal guests and friends of the pub, and indeed our unbelievable suppliers who bring us incredible, fresh Scottish produce every day.
“It’s an honour that after 10 years, The Scran & Scallie is still celebrated as one of the best pubs in the country. We are truly grateful to the Pub and Bar Awards team for the support and recognition.”
