Sometimes, you’ve just got to let your inner child run free – and handily, one of the best ways I’ve found to do that has just arrived in Edinburgh. Already a smash-hit in London, where many a fun night has been spent chucking balls at your friend’s heads, Ballie Ballerson has now brought their tried-and-tested formula of ball pits and retro cocktails to Edinburgh. The bar is open now, so let the games begin…
Ballie Ballerson Edinburgh is the group’s first venture outside of London, and we’re pretty confident it’s going to be a popular addition. The premise is simple; you take a menu full of sweet-inspired drinks (try the ever-popular Skittles Sour, made with pink gin, limoncello, and Skittles) and add two giant ball pits, into which you and the squad can dive, swim, chill, or chuck the balls around. The ball pits feature mirrored walls and ceilings, ideal for selfies, and the LED lights add a new level of grooviness to the experience.
How committed are they to the premise? Well, there are over one million balls across the two ball pits, so you know they’re not messing around. Oh, and all their balls are thoroughly cleaned every Monday, so you can handle them without fear of picking up any germs… Fine, I’ll stop now.
Ballie Ballerson is open on Forrest Road, in the site of the old McSorley’s Irish Bar, where it’s spread over two floors and is now ready to welcome up to 300 ballers. They’ve even roped in graffiti artist Armando to give the place a touch of street art flair – which I’m sure is the thing you’ll be most focused on when an avalanche of balls is being hurled at your head…
