If you’ve taken to Twitter already this morning then you might have seen the fantastic news that Alison Hammond will be the newest Great British Bake Off host, replacing Matt Lucas after his recent decision to step down. She’ll be working alongside Noel Fielding and honestly, can you think of any two people with better energy?
We can’t wait to welcome her to our screens, and as a previous contestant on Celebrity Bake Off, we’ve already seen how hilarious she can be. The This Morning presenter’s career has taken off exponentially in the past few years and she will be the first Great British Bake Off host who isn’t white.
Already, Alison’s been cracking jokes in a video uploaded to Twitter, announcing that she will be the next host of this phenomenally popular series. That booming laugh of hers is infectious and it’s going to be great to see her commenting on the bakes.
I mean, when she featured in Celebrity Bake Off and couldn’t find her oven door I had literal tears on my cheeks from laughing. Of course, Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith will return as judges this year and the tent will be brimming with talented bakers.
Before the move to Channel 4 from the BBC, Mel Geidroyc and Sue Perkins had hosted the show. Then, it was the turn of Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding. Matt Lucas replaces Sandi Toksvig and now we have Alison Hammond to look forward to as the newest Great British Bake Off host.
