Ever imagined what it would be like just hopping on a sleeper train to Paris straight from Edinburgh? Well, this could be possible!
French train company Midnight Trains could make that happen, claiming to introduce electric trains with more privacy and better catering options than its competitors. What is more, by the ditching the short-haul flights and stress at the airport, travellers can opt for a more sustainable experience that is better for the environment.
Midnight Trains is currently delivering its first sleeper train route between Paris and Milan, as well as to Venice that is expected to start next year. While the Edinburgh destination is more of a long-term goal, the company also has ambitions to expand to Berlin, Madrid and Copenhagen, all departing from the French capital.
Midnight Trains co-founder Romain Payet said: “We think that travellers are more and more conscious about the ecological impact of air travel and they need an alternative. But when travelling to and from most major European cities, they do not have this alternative.”
The company’s current plan is to lay out its network to over ten destinations, bringing back the glorious 20s style and décor to their trains. So, while we all know it’s pretty much the same taking a train from Edinburgh to London as it is flying there, the future will have to adapt to more sustainable ways of travel, especially for shorter distances.
That’s where star-ups like this come in, and we hope Midnight Trains reach their goal in no time.
